HortEx Vietnam – International Exhibition & Conference on Horticultural and Floricultural Production and Processing Technology in Vietnam creates a bridge between International and local growers, suppliers and industry professionals of horticultural and floricultural products. HortEx Vietnam has experienced two successful editions and achieved impressive results. HortEx Vietnam 2019 attracted over 200 companies from 28 countries (up 81% compared to the first edition in 2018) and welcomed nearly 7.000 trade visitors in three days. The third edition – HortEx Vietnam 2020 – will take place from 26 February to 28 February, 2020 at Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC), Ho Chi Minh City.
Hortex Vietnam has received the strong attention and response of domestic and foreign businesses since the exhibition has been launched at the right time in which the regional as well as the world market is changing positively but challengingly. Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable industry has seen a significant growth in recent years, especially in exports: Fruit and vegetable exports in 2018 set a record with a growth rate of 10.8%, exceeding the country’s crude oil export turnover. According to Department of Agro-product Processing and Market Development (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development): the total export value in the first half of the year was estimated at 2.06 billion USD, up 3.9% compared to the same period in 2018. Gardening and floriculture – although it has only been developed in the last 10 years, a great potential of this industry has also been shown, promising to make Vietnam one of the world’s largest flower exporters according to experts.
Asian – Europen markets are important markets for Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable import and export, with up to 8 countries and territories in the TOP TEN fruit and vegetable export market and 6 countries and territories in TOP TEN fruit and vegetable import market. Recently, the Vietnam – EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and the Investment Protection Agreement (IPA) between the European Union (EU) and Vietnam have been signed in Hanoi. The agreements facilitate good opportunities for businesses to expand export markets and participate in the value chain as well as global production networks.
In addition to these advantages, the situation also imposes urgent requirements on enterprises: must improve production, improve product quality, apply high technology in production, processing, preservation, packaging, shipping, joining the global supply chain, meeting the increasingly stringent requirements of export markets as well as competition in the domestic market.
Within this context, the HortEx Vietnam Organizers have decided to accompany with Fruit and Vegetable industry enterprises through a series of seminars on Horticulture and Floriculture Exports – New Movement in Asian & European Markets to provide a platform that brings together interested companies to discuss and exchange ideas on current issues. Stand-out topics will include: the main export markets of Vietnam’s Vegetable, Flowers and Fruit products; EV FTA – from the viewpoint of businesses in vegetable, fruit and agriculture industry and the opportunities and challenges of fruit and vegetable production businesses to Asia & European markets.
The seminar series takes place in three cities:
– Ho Chi Minh City, 22 October 2019
– Dalat, 23 October 2019
– Hanoi, 24 October 2019
